Ok so me and my friend had a little argument. He was trying to tell me that he wants a 200-250 gb SSD because he wants to put all his music and videos etc... on it. And i told him that i rather buy 1 tb HDD and use that as a storage drive where i can have all my music games etc. So i wanna hear ur opinions do u use ssd's for boot drive or storage drive smile.gifthumb.gif

SSD for storage is STUPID.

I take that back, there is enterprise use for SSD storage. But to put music/videos on? no benefit, and its just wasting the space. Slap your friend.

I have an 80GB SSD for boot, have web browser on it, and the only game on it is BF3. While steam games, office, etc is on a WD Black.

Neither actually, I mainly would use it for boot drive and storing stuff like music on there so I could just place it in My Music and maybe Videos. But defiantly not a storage driver where I would place everything thumb.gif Might as well place a 3rd option for what I just said... smile.gif

Usually I just do ssd for os and hdd for games and storage, if you want get another ssd or have a big enough one to fit a couple of games, but for strictly storage/videos/documents/music I keep that on hdd.

I have a 64gb M4 for boot drive, and a Samsung Spinpoint for storage, and have set up exactly the way Fooxz does.

SSDs for storage...? You're wasting your money... Hard drives do the same job with almost no noticeable difference.

So... you win!

Thank you guys for ur opinions, but my friend accused me of me twisting his words LOL. Basically he ment that he will use it for a boot drive where also he will put all his music and videos not games and movies and all that... so again my point is why would u use ssd for music and videos where the whole point of SSD is to make ur pc boot faster and increase the performance isnt that right? I personally prefer spending 100 bux on 1tb HDD which i will use to put all my Music, videos and all that entertaining stuff.

I use my SSD to install the OS, programs, and games. Anything that installs, I try to put it on the SSD. Documents, music, videos, etc, I store on a spindle drive. Someone above stated they store music on their SSD because they put it in the My Music folder. Windows allows you to redirect your user profile to another drive, so this option is also unnecessary.

Using an SSD to store music and video files is a really good way to waste money and space on a SSD. SSDs are for the operating system and frequently used programs or games. There is no real world difference between storing music and video files on an SSD and a HDD.
