[Kotaku] On May 1, A New Call of Duty Game Will be Revealed - Page 4

I'm starting to hate the FPS genre as a whole... At what point did making the graphics better (or not really at all) and simply changing the NPC's scripts and the maps count as a new game? Most FPS games are basically just reskinned games.

I see mods to games years old that offers more than most "new" games from major developers. Gamers need to say enough is enough, and refuse to buy the newer game, forcing them to come up with something worth our money.

But from a publisher standpoint, why not? If they can do pretty much nothing and get millions and millions of dollars for editing green to blue, why wouldn't they? You know you would. It's not their fault people are dumb enough to throw money at garbage non-stop... They see a market and are taking advantage of it.

Usually when I see a lot of ads for a AAA game I know what NOT to waste my time looking up. Most games that get massive advertising budgets, have crap gameplay these days. Not all, but it seems like its in the majority range now.

CoD UO is still my favorite game of all time. Miles better than anything in the series. CoD2 was fun for a bit, but they took way too much out of it (sprinting/vehicles/large maps), then CoD3 barely existed...CoD4 was okay but after that pulled a dive bomb.

On May 1, I will still be incredibly excited for Diablo 3. After playing that for a few months, GW2 will release, and between those two games I won't even consider buying this.

I don't need to own another reskinned game charging a full price tag of $60. rolleyes.gif

1990's. Doom, Doom 2, Final Doom, Heretic, Hexen, Strife are all the same game with some minor engine tweaks and swapped out graphics and maps. However (unlike CoD) they were all awesome games. I don't think they cost $65 either.

Actually they were quite a bit more. I remember mailing in $100 for both Doom I & Doom II, infact I still have the 3.5"s and boxes around somewhere.... This was back when most PC games were in the $59 range.

Well maybe, hard for me to tell since I was 5 - 10 years old when those games were released. I played them but never had to buy them biggrin.gif. I just assumed they were cheaper.
