Origin is still meh. It doesn't bother me too much for the odd game but it is clearly not as polished as Steam. It could get there but as long as EA doesn't buy out every game company and releases everything on Origin I have no compelling reason to use it over Steam.

Valve customer service is cool, Steam itself is cool, and I have a large library of games on it already.

Everything is about control these days. Companies want to control everything you do, and Steam/Valve is no exception.

The problem is that everyone praises Valve and everything they do, despite their screwups and faults, yet people are willing to start a riot at the drop of a hat that potentially threatens Valve or the monopoly that Valve has created.

Steam is a bad form of DRM, despite what others seem to believe. It forces you to use their service with an always-on connection, much like Ubisoft's DRM. It crashes and hangs frequently, just like other forms of DRM. None of this matters to a good majority of the drones that would give their first-born son to Valve, however, as they blindly follow Valve into the deepest, darkest crevices of a shady industry.

The only thing that is better about Steam is that I have more games on it because it's been around longer. They also seem to have more sales which is good.

Outside of that I think Origin is flat better. I down load and install games off of it much quicker. The interface is also smoother and cleaner in my opinion. Not to mention when a game is done installing it's done installing. I click play in Origin and BAM my game starts up. When I click play in Steam it just sits there for a minute before doing anything.

Yup. I'm a hater.

My steam rarely ever crashes, I can go straight to offline mode if I dont have connection, and I think competition is good for steam. Having another company competing with it will allow it to see how it can be improved. I like steam, but I love Valve.

Well, firstly when Valve makes a mistake or screw-up, they promptly fix it and Gabe personally apologizes to the community for it. Secondly, everyone praises Valve because they have been good to their customers. They don't screw them over at every chance they get (EA, Activision, Ubisoft, the list goes on...). I hate EA for numerous reasons, but the one thing I really cannot stand about them is that they force their stupid online pass onto all of their games. When I go out to rent a game, I can't access the multiplayer or even do some stuff that's crucial to the single player experience (EMS for Mass Effect 3) without purchasing the game or an online pass. It's ridiculous and just way to treat customers. mad.gif

But really, all add-in software can burn in hell.

I agree with this, Origin needs to go away there is no need for it other than for EA to control the games you buy. After EA refused to give me any more activations for my Steam copy of Crysis Warhead, I refused to buy anymore EA games from that point onwards. I refuse to pay more than $10 for a game that requires a 3rd party program just to play it, that includes Steam and any others. I only pay more for games that I have complete control over and not some 3rd party program that decides weather or not you can continue using the game you paid for. I've only bought one game this year new and it was The Witcher 2, because it only requires a CD key and you are free to do with the game as you please and the game updates on it's own without any 3rd party program nonsense.

I'm sorry guys, but Steam's success proved to EA that it's O.K to control every aspect of our gaming. You all voted with your wallets, and now we're paying for it.
