HaiiYaa's Zowie Ec2 evo review - Page 10

Its a native registry setting magnified outside the sensors recommended or specified parameters.

Zowie EC/AM uses a 3rd Party lens developed by their OEM. I don't really think too highly of this solution, but I suppose it works for their target audience.

Depends on screen resolution and frame rate. Typically this issue wont happen outside of CS1.6/QL (Capped FPS + low res = bad)

2300 is 1800dpi ( avago 3090 native ) with 1.25x magnification due to the custom lens, zowie AM had quite a bit of cursor jitter on this setting, no idea how they managed to get away with jitter this time

Or it could use the 3500 reg with a smaller lens magnification, but I've doubted that due to the lens size. Hence, why I still assume it's 1.25x like the original EC. The only discrepancy I have is the lower step. I think they made a small error with calculating the values.

Placement seems to be modified (In comparison to the original)

Regarding sensor quality, can you tell the difference between a original 3090 and ZOWIE's variant at 450?
As far as in-game feel goes, i don't think there is discrepancy between the two.

If you dont think too highly of ZOWIE's tuning, what is your idea of a optimal sensor? Keep in mind that a low lod is always the main objective and ZOWIE will never compromise on that. That being said, it would be nice if you have some constructive criticism and suggestion in this matter.

Thats why I stated: "I suppose it works for their target audience"

If you want me to criticize, I do see a few issues with using Kingsis' solution.

- Mouse doesn't track or has difficulties on certain lighter surfaces. (or skips with certain multi color pads)
- Custom lens distorts actual cursor quality at specific values.
- Max IPS is potentially lowered assuming I'm correct about the magnification value. (Not important to me, but it might be for some)

That being said, I have a few ideas to combat the whole lift off distance ordeal, but I'm sure Zowie already knows their other options.

Just want to add a gerneral state into skylit's post - using a different lens is a tricky business which can causes many issue with precision, tracking and whole cusor/sensor behavior on pads, so using a diffrent lens should be the "last choice" to consider if you planing to keep the default f/w (as zowie does).

Could the custom lens be why dust will make the mouse cursor jitter when it's not in contact with a surface? I have to clean the sensor with my fingers or a cloth every few hours.

Would be nice if you share your ideas biggrin.gif
You can pm me if you prefer.

As a low sense fps gamer (mainly cs:s these days) at ~400-500dpi that has used many mice over the years, I just want to put out there that currently in my opinion the AM (or evos depending on what shape you want) is the best mouse for the needs that I have. Despite some of the negative criticisms and feelings of some of the other forum members. So if you're in doubt, give it a try.

That's the same opinion I got from Zowie as well.
Will switch from AM to EC1/2 Evo white soon though because of shape and coating.

I just picked up an EC2 eVo and it feels pretty comfortable coming from the 1.1, tracking wise it's pretty similar to the AM as far as cursor quality/tracking speed is concerned
Hopefully I won't have any of the tracking problems that I experienced with the AM since I actually like the shape of this mouse.
