I get by fine with Gimp and cheap Lightroom.

Another great free program to check out is Blender 3D (at blender.org). Incredible 3D software that has come a long way over the years. It has features that rival the "big boys" including camera tracking, compositing tools and a game engine. Very cool stuff.

I have to say, the new CS6 features in Photoshop, Premiere and AE are remarkable. Forunately we don't have to worry about paying harsh upgrade fees thanks to volume licensing for small businesses wink.gif

wow $2600?!

Bring that down to around $1200 and it would be worth it.

So CS6 Master Collection (Mac and PC not not just one) + Muse/Typekit + android/IOS apps + web hosting for 5 websites for 30 a month?
I'll sure be signing up this summer for it.

I feel I should elaborate on this. This suite is only worth it / a godsend to those who actually professionally design and make a living from graphic design / using Photoshop and other Adobe programs. Hell, it may even be worth it to those who enjoy the hobby and can financially fit the annual $50 a month. This is almost a deal way too good to pass up for those that do those sort of things.

In the earlier pages, Duckie & Riou summed it up perfectly.

$50 a month is pretty cheap for professional software.

I know that in the legal profession, it's not uncommon for legal research software companies like Westlaw and LexisNexis to charge thousands or tens of thousands of dollars a month for access to their software on a firm-wide basis. Even for lawyers with solo practices, it can cost nearly $200 a month.

I still think it's overpriced. I've used majority of the Adobe Suite (my school has it) and it really doesn't seem like it's worth more than $1500. I think they would sell a lot more if it was priced more around there.

I understand it's being used for professional reasons and businesses use it as well, but I still think they should offer it for less. It just seems so overpriced.

For what's offered in the suite, and what each program has the capabilities of doing, it's worth it. When you're a professional graphic designer making six figures, the price it's at currently isn't anything to sweat about. It's a godsend.

$50/mo is still a lot, imo.

Not all graphic designers are making six figures/going to be making six figures anytime soon though. For a start up, that could be a hard price to swallow.

But I get where you're coming from.
