They have not changed their pricing... they just added another payment model.

just because you do not use PS, it does not mean no one else will.
You != Everyone.
You <> Businesses
.

If only I can triple bold.

Like you own the software to begin with. They are just adding the cloud features, which is cool for whoever likes their data somewhere other than that little box beside their knee.

Soon you will have to go to cloud-web and do all your work, save in a cloud. That's just the way its going.

Yea guys seriously, people make their living off of graphic design. $50 a month to even make 2x that would be worth it, right? I would pay $50 to earn $100...who wouldnt? The software is very valuable to those who make their living off of it.

That's a far stretch unless your a really good artist. You are right though, people make dollar images and then sell them on PHPBB or other places and end up making thousands (many other examples). $50 a month for a graphic artist isn't that much.

I know people who charge $60 just to add a picture to a website. $50 is chump money in web design, photography, video, flash. Artists gotta eat.

A lot of businesses "insist" data is somewhere other than just that little box beside knees.... file servers are nothing new. wink.gif

To their market, Adobe Suite is more valuable than the OS.... of course, it is and that is all that matters.
How are you calculating worth?
You're a programmer? How do you value your software?
So? Virtually all enterprise/professional work is worth MUCH MUCH more than the hardware and OS.
Goldman probably drops millions a year for the HFT hardware and infrastructure.... the software generates hundreds of millions a year.

I don't decide the price of software just write it. If I were writing my own app to Google Play it'd be worth whatever people are willing to pay en masse. I'd want to get my software into peoples hands, but then I'm a bludgeoning developer in that instance.

Everyone uses MS Office, business, home and education and it doesn't require you to move the earth to buy it... Adobe charge top whack for this and it's not really that worth it. They're charging £333 for the student copy that includes most of what everyone is going to need PSE, DW, etc) which si good, but only if you're a student. I'm just of the mindset where I see a £2k price tag on some software and fall off my chair!

Software for the masses and software for specific, specialized markets are two different things. Adobe does sell a consumer version for significantly less. The majority of people are fine with a $100 PS Essential. However, people who need the advance features will pay for them.

$2K software is nothing unusual. Go look at MATLAB, AutoCAD, Windows Server, RHEL, or any other professional software.

If you are shocked at $2K software, then you must not work in enterprise or business IT shops. There is an upcharge for professional software and hardware for specialized features and increased support/service.

Check the prices on single-socket, quad-core systems: http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/us/en/sm/WF04a/15351-15351-3328412-241644-241475.html

its all put into perspective.. i use PS about once a week for my work and it generates around 3-4k a week in profits to them.. a large enough customer base is all it takes.. you have ot understand its about the needs of the user and this suite isnt target towards the average user. I like this new payment model as it will help smaller companies afford such a necessity in the world of online

Glad to see people rationalizing this because of the business aspect...that is the goal here people. Not individual casual users...stick to the freeware or lite versions...they do plenty enough. I am not a pro and still think that if you want PS, get PS on trial then decide if you NEED it. If you are a pro $50 is nothing for your living on the prospect of that software making you oodles of money in return.
