Most of Adobe's software is purchased by companies, businesses, shools, etc. This a good business model for just regular end users or small business.

As a designer, this is PURE GOLD.

I will have to weigh the option of ownership though. If they release a new version every two years or so then a monthly cost could be worth it.
$1200 over 24 months vs $1800-2600 upfront.

If they do and the price comes down to $25/mo I'll sign up right now.

This is strait up renting right? Like just endless 50 dollar payments and you never actually end up owning a copy of the software right?

See now I just see this as another way for adobe to make even more money. How often do people who buy this 2600 dollar software bundle have to shell out for a new version or whatever? If it's over 5 years then adobe is making more off of these 50 dollar payments.

If this was instead like rent to own, where I pay 50 bucks a month and after 52 months I'm done and I now own a copy of the software then that'd be something fine. I might be tempted to try that even though I have almost no use at all for photoshop beyond playing around.

So meh, just endless payments. Screw another monthly bill. Though again this is just my pov. I guess more payment options are better then less and some people might find this more palatable then 2600 dollars all at once. But me? If I was some artist dude I'd do the math and figure out how long I'd be using the software and shell out the 2600 if I planned to make use of it for more then 52 months (4 years and 4 months).

If they are releasing new versions every two years, you'll have to consider upgrade cost also. $2600 turns in $3600+ in two years.
But monthly subs could be auto upgraded for the same $50. I takes a little over four years to equal retail price.

Here's my issue. How many users? If I have to pay $50 for each user. Then I will buy the suite instead.

I wish Sony made this available for Vegas, I've wanted that for awhile, but $500 up front is too rich for me (for a software program).

$2,600? Is this some kind of joke?

Not to mention $50/month subscription. Who does Adobe think they are? EA?

The price of previous creative suits was putting me off getting it. I don't care how good it is, I'm not paying more than $80 for something I could get for free and mod is slightly to make it the same.

Monthly subscriptions were available for CS5 as well. Not sure why this is news now. Maybe just because the cloud concept is new.

The Master Collection has always been about this much money. If you really need every product in the collection, you are likely making plenty of money and $2600 or $50 a month shouldn't be an issue for you.

You other point is just not true. You can't just mod another program and turn it into Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.

....it is $2600 today. That is CS5 is already $2600 so the same price for CS6 is nothing unusual.

The $50/month is ANOTHER payment option.

Please read the article and understand how professional software is priced (AutoCAD, MATLAB, RHEL, etc).

You cannot get anything like CS6 free legally. You cannot mod anything to even come close to ifs feature set. If you think you can, you do not use advanced features to warrant even needing it then.
Once again...
