Crucial Technology 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) $229.99

Yes, it's DDR2 667, but it has the same chips as some high end DDR2 800 RAM, like G.Skill and Team Extreem. This stuff overclocks very well, and is reasonbly priced.

But i think i am going to keep the mobo which mean no OCing right??

i was looking at this ram http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/Produc...ductCode=85236

is the 5-5-5 timing very bad? it should still be faster then the stuff you showed me at stock settings right?

Yeah, at stock the DDR2 800 will be slightly faster. Intels love bandwidth, so looser timings in exchange of bandwidth is good.

The difference won't be a whole lot... I did some test runs:
The first image is with RAM set 1:1 with the CPU, and then the FSB mildly overclocked to 333MHz (CPU Clock 3.0GHz). Effective RAM speed is thus DDR2 667. The second one is same FSB and CPU clock speed, but with RAM at a 2:3 divider. Effective RAM speed thus DDR2 1002. As you can see, the difference in SuperPi times is 0.313 seconds and there is barely a difference between the CPU scores in 3DMark06 (was too lazy to run the whole 3DMark that day,... LOL). With a stock rig, the difference between DDR2 667 and DDR2 800 will be less than that, I'd say about 0.150 difference in SuperPi times...

If Intel plays nice with OCZ, then I think it's a good pick for a rig you won't overclock Check if Intel mentions OCZ as supported RAM...

Cool, I just got the "Order Shipped" e-mail too. I thought it would be a while yet. Now I just hope to get the final version of Vista sooner than the February release or whatever.
