My next CPU is either i7 3770 (non-k) or i5 3550. I want to replace my 4 year old Q6600

IB would be a good upgrade for you to be sure.

temps = crazy high

performance = a little bit over SB, but more its always welcome thumb.gif

I really like intel chips, but i dont like the degradation they suffer (coming from 2 i7 and 1 i5.. they got unstable after a while UNDER the safe max Vcore RECOMENDED by intel.. needed to lower OC wich wasnt fantastic in the first place mad.gif)

1 More thing: anyone saw the GURU3D review?!?! the INTEL Z77 motherboard "Visual Bios" its just perfect !!! the best there is among mobo manufacturers (my opinion)

I can't really understand the anand review. They said this is the best Tick Intel has likely ever put forward... little improvement to the CPU but big improvement to the GPU is rather pointless for a high end Desktop Chip. Anyone using an IGP is still better off with llano imo when you compare platform costs.

This may be what AMD needs to catch up, if the rumors about Piledriver are to believed (Take with a grain of salt after BD messup).

So... I'm rather dissappointed. I hope the mobile chips are up to the task, as I hear they fair a little better. Heading to those reviews now.

These reviews are conflicting with OC potential. I've seen 4.6/4.7 GHz and I've seen 5+ GHz, and varying temperatures. Not sure what to make of it all.

Undervolting and Overclocking Core i7 3770K @ Anandtech link is incorrect

That's like saying overclocking on air sucks because you tested it with the stock HSF. Get a real loop

aren't most of those reviews using ES chips which are touted to be COOLER than retail !

93C at 1.25v and 4.6ghz...and your saying the rumours about high temperatures was rubbish? Jees you need to get your head checked.

That is showing the temp and power draw at 1.25v while stepping up the clock. Further down the article they have charts showing the maximum over clock they achieved at different voltages. And for 4.6ghz it was only was needed 1.15v at a temp of 76C, not 93C.
