Seriously, apart from temperatures there's no reason not to go IB.

Whats saying a lot. People here in OCN spend more money on cooling to get those nice temps. Water Cooling will not make IVY OC any better or have much better Temps. I am not against IVY. Its just that i wanted to get the 3770K so badly to have HT but i am disappointed. I am just going to get a Z77 MB for now and see if Intel release a new reversion. Even SB is more then enough for me. Current IVY does not really do it for me as a overclocker. For emaple the only reason i got this 7970 is to OC it. I feel like the more i can go over stock the more i am getting the moneys worth.

But performance/$ should be what matters...Sure, you may be getting 100-200Mhz less on average based off current reviews but it's made up in performance and power consumption. I don't get why some people buy parts simply because it OCs higher even if it performs worse...May as well buy BD for that.

Gene V : 3770k

Gene IV : 3570k

I was initially pissed they didnt release yesterday but it's giving me more time to debate between IB and SB-E. Or possibly even regular SB if the deals are too good to pass up.

I'm with you. I was a bit bummed. I'm ready to push the envelope and for the first time ever try a CPU on launch.

I'm also sort of ready to try my first dual GPU if it's priced at $700 range with this new PCIe 3.0 tech in x16 mode.

Couple of new firsts and enjoy the hobbyist aspect of the new territory.

You getting the 3570K? Gamers shouldn't even consider spending the extra $100 for HT since it won't really help them. wink.gif
Having had my 930 for a while now, I noticed that most of the time I run it with HT OFF, I only turn it on when I need to do LONG renders. Other than that, it runs better and more snappy with HT OFF, and gives much lower temps too.

We should both go UD5H, so we can help eachother out.

I'm a gamer, but i'm also about some E-Peen biggrin.gif

Going with a 3770k... thumb.gif

I'll be doing a buildlog / upgrade in the Intel CPU section in the coming weeks that hopefully you'll check out. Operation: Efficiently Fermi. Featuring 480 SLi (stock and undervolted) + a 3770k(hopefully at least 4.7) all on a Corsair TX650.

It's going to be a fun project and wouldn't be possible without Intel's further and further improved power efficiency.

Sounds good. thumb.gif

PM me when you start your thread.

480 SLI on a 650? Isn't that pushing it kinda close?

ha ha, yup, I'd still go with the 3770K even if I turn HT off most of the time, HT has its moments when it does come in handy for me, especially when I'm video editing. wink.gif

I was just saying that if you're strictly gaming, you're better off with the 3570K just like the 2500K became the gamer's choice.

so how's the overclocking potential for the 3770k? Better than Sandy?
