I get below 60C with an equivalent cooler at 4.8ghz and 1.4V.

I blame that huge IGP. Though, it makes perfect sense since more and more people are buying notebooks than desktops these days.

Now that is disappointing same frequency, almost the same power consumption, very slight improvement in performance.

I'm not sure I understand the huge dilemma here? So IB at 4.7 GHz is hotter than SB at 4.7 GHz, but it also performs as well as SB at 5GHz. I guarantee that SB at 5GHz will be just as hot as IB at 4.7GHz and that is if you can even get your SB to 5GHz.

Seems to me like IB is a decent die-shrink performance gain and certainly not a fail. Just nowhere near the mind-blower that SB was...

Hmm I'll end up getting IB but yea not sure if im in any rush....I really only want IB for PCI 3.0, not sure how much of a performance increase ill get going from PCI 2.0 8x/8x to PCI 3.0 8x/8x

Wonder if they'll release a new stepping which helps with temps?

THIS IS GREAT NEWS FOR $$$ PRICING $$$
maybe not for Sandy, but for AMD and IVY...

Think about it If PD is at all good, this gives AMD a chance to catch up a little. That means Competition tongue.gif

I'm still sorting through the Reviews, anyone seen a High end Watercooled review? Not A HXXX

So what exactly are people going to be using to test stability on these? Just Prime95 and OCCT? Seems like the "updated" linpack IntelBurnTest and LinX use absolutely destroy this processor. Overclock3D claimed he wouldn't use it on these.

I really trust IntelBurnTest over Prime95 and OCCT. frown.gif

None of them use real loops to my knowledge. My "real" loop gets about 15C better temps than a H100 in my testing (on my i7 920). While most reviews claim it won't matter, having 4.6-4.8GHz at 70C versus 85C on a H100 is very nice.

Most people will have it around 4.6ghz for a 24/7 OC, and people are getting a whole lot of different voltages to get it there but I'm sure 90% of people will be able to run at those frequencies.
Not much of an OC'er, I agree, not a flop as people claim it to be either.

a flop over expectations, yes. will it sell bad, NO. same thing with bulldozer. people hyped it up way to much. the heat thing is a huge killer though. even if its tjmax is 105, that is still hitting higher, at lower frequencies than my 2500k at 5.0 ever got to. Was really hoping they had alot better performance. now here is to hoping that intel retail edge lists SB-e instead of IB in there summer deals.

Well that settles it, 3820/X79 for me then.

I'll be buying an Ivy. Why? I don't own any CPUs under 65nm and it would be worth it for me. As soon as the prices go live, I'll likely buy a new system by the end of this week biggrin.gif
