Need Help Finding The Best Gaming Laptop For Around 2 Grand!

Thread Starter
Hey guys! Simple question here, what would you guys suggest for an amazing gaming laptop around 2 grand? I have been looking at laptops from xoticpc , but I am not sure of which is the absolute best deal.

I am looking for a laptop for gaming and gaming only, that's all i do with all of my computers! Now, the screen size would be the bigger the better. I was looking at the 17.3" models. Also, the better quality of the screen the better. No glare, needs to be glossy and pretty!
and of course in general i am looking to get the best specs I can for around 2,000$!

There are so many different configurations to chose from, I am not sure what would be the best set up!
The new gen intel processors are much better than the older? Which mobile GPU should I be looking for with my type of budget?

Here you go man:

http://www.xoticpc.com/sager-np9270-clevo-p270wm-ships-midapril-p-3595.html?wconfigure=yes

Spent a while just finding a decent US website but xoticpc is the only one, I'm from the UK so I'm sorry ahah!

If you take the OS off and use one you already have, you'll save yourself some money for an upgrade etc...!

Best for gaming would be the very one at the end as posted with SLI 675's but that's 2.5k! Here's what I'd pick:

SSD 120-240gb
i7 - 2.4ghz quad and above
GTX 670 and above
8gb 1600mhz RAM and above
No Operating System
Extra Thermal Paste

XoticPC is literally the cheapest I've found for the US so far, so you're already heading in the right direction, I'll customise one now and send you the specs, I'll put it at $2000 or a little over for the best price/performance. Be right back haha!

That was the laptop I figured would be suggested. I guess I couldn't go wrong with that!

There's literally only one setting I'd change, and that's to whack an SSD in it! SSD's in laptops are just breathtaking! I'm pretty sure you'd be satisfied with that laptop! Here in the UK, we have PCspecialist.co.uk they're not half as good as xoticpc so count yourself lucky!

I wonder how much it'd cost to get one shipped! Hmmm! You're making me want one now.

mehh ... with a 6990 is the same speed as 675 ... and you can get a LOT more bang for the $$$ with Xfire 6990m ....

http://www.notebookcheck.net/AMD-Radeon-HD-6990M.57308.0.html

within 1% of each other.

And buy a used one and you will save money and be able to upgrade to RAID0 SSD ... my opinion though.

Whoa, that 7970m is pretty beasty! In the Sager NP9170 it comes with the 2nd gen intel processors, would the i7-2860QM be just fine?

I wouldn't go for anything higher than the 2760QM in that kind of a machine. The added $250 on top of the 2760QM isn't worth a 100MHz increase in base and turbo clock speed. Plus the added 2MB cache won't be seen in games. tongue.gif

Also, the 7970M isn't available until the end of May. I mean... yeah, it's the fastest without a doubt... but is that wait okay with you?

Call xotic. The ivy bridge cpu's will be available on the 29th. Many are ordering now and adding a note in the orders requesting the new cpu;s. 3610m will be similar in cost to the 2670m.

Totally agree with Imglidinhere's cpu recommendation.

According to a few certain posts regarding the 7970M, it has not been released to the public for mass sale as of yet. The few who have acquired one did so through means that I cannot say.

However the scores are quite incredible...
