RAM keeping me from displaying video? - Page 2

Ok i disconnected everything and even tried it with no ram, and 1 stick of ram and still no video. By the way I'm using a Cooler Master IGreen 600 W PSU.

I was wondering could improper installation of the IO shield do anything? By the way I tried plugging my keyboard into the usb but it didn't look like it turned on and my mouse would go on if I kept plugging and unplugging it, though I didn't do it from startup I tried when the computer was on. Plus my mobo doesn't seem damaged it lights up and everything and all other mechanisms are running from it fine. I wish I had another video card to test but this one is brand new and sealed and I've never heard any complaints of it not working properly sooo..... any more suggestions.. could it be the adapter that came with it?

yes, improper installation of the IO shield could cause a short, and the issues you have can be caused by a short

did you do this in the case, or outside the case?

I was going to suggest changing the Hz of the monitor. Probs not the problem, but when i first booted my system i got exactly the same. No video, just said no signal on my monitor.

But i connected it up to my other computer, changed from 60Hz to 50Hz in display, and it worked fine when i tried it on my new computer again.
But you arent getting any beeps at all are you?

And also. Does ur GFX card need its own power cable?
Most newer ones need a 6 pin power cable plugged into them before they will work propperly.

Sorry if these suggestions are newbie Just listing through possibilities

hey man newbie problems need newbie solutions

but yeah the 7600 gt actually doesn't need a power cable believe it or not it runs straight off the mobo... and how exactly do you change the hz of the monitor though i don't know if the screen is the problem cause i tried it on two different ones and nothing worked.

You have to have the monitor working to change the resolution to a spicific setting. Some monitors do have a reset button to return it to default settings.
If you do get it working, right click on the desktop, Left click on Properties, Left ckick Settings and click "Advanced" the "Monitor" tab will have the refresh adjustments. Do not set it beyond the monitors range because it can and will damage it.

well either way I haven't gotten it working... basically the monitor thinks its in standby mode as soon as I plug the adapter into it, and then when I plug the adapter into the video card it stays that way. I'm wondering if its the adapter but I don't know i doubt it... if it is my motherboard how would I know if its fried... the power on lights stay on and everything seems to run fine from the mobo.

So far I've tried:

running it bare boned.. from no memory to 1 stick
switching to the other pci e slot
trying both video out things on the card
resetting the cmos on the motherboard by removing the battery and switching the jumper... then switching it back

this is really frustrating
