Dell U2410 to replace monitor in a dual screen set-up

Hello again, i am having to replace my second monitor because i stole it from my sisters room while she was on holiday, and now she is back and, has re-acquired it. I was looking for a new monitor for ages, but i have finally narrowed it down to a dell U2410, would this be a good move? I am hoping to run this with my ACER GD245HQ, or replace as my main screen and have the acer as my second.

TL;DR? - Would a dell U2410 be a good upgrade from a ACER GD245HQ.

Thanks in advance!

Wouldn't this be classified as a side-grade? or possibly a downgrade (depending on what your preferrence is)? the GD245HQ is a 120hz monitor right? What do you use the monitor for? Do you want color accuracy or fluidity? If you're going for an eyefinity setup then I suggest getting similar monitors because having different monitors side by side is not recommended - aesthetically speaking.

^^^ That

You lose the 120hz but gain the colors of ips. If that trade off is worth it to you then sure. If you are doing stuff like Photoshop and color intensive work then yes. If you game then maybe if you can see the difference between 60 and 120hz then maybe keep the acer.

Okay, thanks i might keep the ACER one. But is there anything that is same as the acer because i wanted to have a set up that i can choose between landscape eyefinity and portrait. and the acer has this hugh as bezel so, when i saw the dell with its stand that pivots i kinda liked it.

EDIT: Just checked in NVIDIA control panel and my refresh rate is at 60Hz, and whne i put it up to 120Hz its all blured, but i can see it preforms better when using the mouse . But i really cant see anything when using it.

Just tested in call of duty, wow and starcraft 2, i cant actualy get 120hz, it just gets all blured same as the desktop

What do you mean by blurred? Like each pixel I'd combined with the one next to it or something? Send a picture?

Bumping for help, and an answer one a screen, the u2410 or the u2412m
post #9 of 13
I have a U2410. It's very nice.

U2412m is much more affordable but has slightly lower color reproduction. Probably nothing noticable.

I dont think either would be ideal movie-watching monitors as they are 16:10. However, for gaming and web surfing 16:10 is the place to be (for me).

I don't think you would be disappointed with either. I picked up my U2410 on craigslist for $250 but otherwise would have gone with the 2412.

How do you have the monitor connected to your video card? is it a DVI or DVI-D cable?
