Universities are a for-profit organization, so a school like UF would likely view athletics as being more important than CS. Maybe they did not get a lot of donations from CS alumni, so that is why they are cutting the program.

What on earth are you talking about? Universities are not, in any way, for profit organizations. They require state funding to stay afloat. Also, if they did make a profit, there would be some place for the profits to go, but there's not, there's no owner(s) of these colleges raking in these so called 'profits'.
