Ivy isn't great for air & water cooling.
Get this setup:
cpu- i5 2550k
mobo- asrock z77 extreme4
ram- 2x4gb gskill ripjawsX 1600mhz cl9 (perfect for a gaming build)
gpu- gtx580 (going for pretty cheap now,$359)
psu- corsair tx650 v2
pc case- nzxt gamma (best in its class amongst sub $4o pc case)
hdd- 1tb samsung sprinpoint f3
cooler- cm hyper 212 evo

k is perfect with a P67 Motherboard as it has no IGP and i guess the mere Mhz overclock can be easily done on the 2500k
and for GTX 580 you are getting a 7870 340$ which is better option in in my suggestion as for the Case i would say i found the LIAN LI Lancool PC-K58 Black 40$ is great for its price and i can say the best bang for buck right now thumb.gif

one way too make it cheaper would be to use linux or windows 8 preview

does its only look like a gaming build to you? come on man,a gtx580 will be very good for video editing too biggrin.gif

gtx580 is a better card, now if tell that hd7870 can oc upto gtx580's speed than I must remember you that gtx580 can oc further and can match hd7970.

Hey, thanks everyone. Turns out, i was able to go to microcenter. I picked up the i7 3770k for a low price, as well as the PSU, HDD and MoBo.

16GB of DDR3 1066 is a huge waste of money. You don't want to go below DDR3 1600, or the difference becomes noticeable.

You can get 8GB of DDR3 1866 for $20 less, which will be far faster. There's a 99.9% chance you don't need more than 8GB (or even close).

One thing you must always remember is you will notice a larger difference spending $100 more on a video card than a processor. For example....3570k w/ radeon 7950 = ~$600 and a 3770k w/ 7850 = ~$580. As far as gaming goes you are way better off with the 3570k and 7950.....Anyways I see you ordered the 3770k which is awesome thumb.gifthumb.gif. As far as the 7850 goes I would say it would be fine for the price range you are in.

Just so you know the 3930k IS the cpu for video editing. I realize its very expensive compared to your budget. But if you really want the performance, thats the way to go.
