Yes you can install most games. In fact, many require an installation since all ps3 have hard drives, unlike the xbox. hitting (don't need to hold) the ps button will turn on the console, assuming the controller is synced to it.

Ya you don't have to worry about the buttons fading. Like the 360 the colored buttons have a cover over them.

You will love how you can easily change the hard drive compared to the 360 when you want to increase the capacity. Just stick in any slim hard drive, format and done. No need to buy a "Xbox hard drive" which is basically a flashed laptop hard drive.

You can use a SSD if you want too.

Some games (mirrors edge), just don't support installation to the HDD. Annoying, but I ended up just getting the games I really liked via PSN Store, anyways. But that was something I missed from the xbox360.

Quick tips? None, really. Updates are more of a PITA, especially for games you haven't played in a while, or older ones that have a lot accumulated (EVERY single update needs to be downloaded... xbox just downloads the latest one of some sort).

Bluray is nice, but that's all I can think of right now (edit: also, amazon prime videos). I upgraded my HDD to a 500GB unit, but haven't used more than 60GB (and that's with about 20+ demos downloaded, too), so thinking of returning it to stock form.

Also, another annoyance is DLC, demos, games, when downloaded, don't just work. They need to be installed, too. Some do this automatically, some don't.

Just go ahead and play games. The HDD can also be filled with loads of stuff like trailers, music, gamedata. I mean GT5 alone uses about 9-10GB if you choose to install it. I have multiple games using about 4 GB to install them. Some games give you the choice as well. Like Valkyria Chronicles.

Welcome to the PS3 family. You should have no problems with the PS3, since it's a great system and has tons of things you can do. Of course it is going to be different from the Xbox, so that's something you will have to work with. The PS3 has so many great games, so there are no worries in the department. Like others have said, it would be good to go out and by a larger hard drive for it. At the very least you should go with a 320. That's what I did with mine and still have plenty of storage, which is most likely because I mainly use my PS3 for RPGs and SP games, but it's still better than stock storage. Enjoy your new console.
