SLI CrossfireX a waste of money? - Page 3

I guess crossfire setups just have a few more problems. I havent had really any on my SLI setup besides scaling issues in certain games and a wonky sli bridge. For the most part I think it's been worth my money. As with anything though I guess each situation is different. I was able to get my second 470 open box from newegg and I've been really happy with the performance.

I was also just trying to point out that you don't "need" to OC to get full usage of multiple gpus. I'm at stock on a Phenom II 1090T and BF3 uses %100 of my 2 480s just fine.

Everything is alright here thumb.gif

My experience has just been bad. And to be honest, I'm still a noob compared to a lot of you guys.

Actually a 750 watt can SLI two 580s just fine. Hell I even had my SLI 480s on a 750 watt for a month before I upped to a 910 watt psu. And the 480s were more power hungry than the 580s.

Two 470s can be had for about $300 used and with a mild overclock run faster than the 7970. I loved mine. The scaling with newer cards is pretty good.
