Switching to intel.

Thread Starter
Hey guys, im switching to intel from my 955 since my motherboard is broken too.

I heard Ivy Bridge is out now so should I go with that? or stick with SB

I play alot of games ( BF3, SWTOR, SKYRIM, WOW etc ) on 3 1080p screens eyefinity

Can you recommend me a good combo between motherboard and cpu and possibly another harddrive such as a WD caviar black?

Thanks!

a i5-2500k will more than meet your needs and should save you abit as well.. also it OCs like a beast.. i prefer IMO to stay on intels Tock
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_Tick-Tock smile.gif

blacks are great drives as for motherboards you could look at 7-series boards such as the Asus P8Z77-V or the Asrock z77 extreme4

6-series
great bang for buck and would server you well for gaming is the asrock z68 exteme3 gen3

We need to know your budget, while the i5 2500k is probably the best bang for the buck out there from intel, there is no reason not to get a 2600k or even an ivy (depending on how much you want to OC and what cooling you are looking at) if you have the money for it.

I also would recommend a 2500k. New CPU and GPUS when they first arrive on the scene normally either have bugs, or cant really be fully utilized. Not to mention they are heavy on pricing.

You would really have to see how much more performance you would get from a 3xxx series vs a 2500k. I doubt its worth the money right now.

If that's your budget for mobo/cpu/hdd, I'd definitely go with a 2600k, they are going for 200 USD at microcenters last I heard. That with a Z77 board should be golden.
