MSI 970A-G46 - Page 3

Maybe I am just a fortunate one. but i have had this board for over a year now and not had a single issue out of it thus far. I started with a 965BE which i left overclocked at 4 GHZ 24/7 for over 9 months. I now have an 8350 running stock speeds (4.0 and 4.2 turbo) and have yet to see any heating issues. Though my case has air-filters and 4x 120mm fans, so the airflow could just have been keeping the VRMs in check all along. From my experience with a good case and proper airflow this is a great board for the price.

I was just talking about this board because it is the source of my problems. I cannot get it to 4.0 no matter what I do. Apparently, it turns off a core once it reaches its limits.

I'll double check the VRM temp when I get the chance.

Northbridge temp is a bit high (90C) during gaming, so I've ordered a 40mm fan.

Got my 40x20mm fan today. Nice an quiet. Took about 8C off under load. Well spent 4$
