Am i making a mistake?

Ok so first of all people who come here to bash ATI, YOU ARE NOT WELCOME! I want facts on why people prefer ATI over nvidia. I am seriously considering a

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150563

but for some reason i can't pull the trigger.

My budget is around 200 bucks. I can go over a bit but the lower the better. if you can find me a good card around 180 than can run:
s2
d3
gw2
swtor
cs:go

That would be awesome but i'm willing to spend 200 maybe a bit more if it could do those at 1920x1080 at max and a side monitor at 1680x1050
or would I have to xfire?

LIKE I SAID AGAIN NO BASHING OR SAYING ATI IS CRAP. I just want info about this card and others around it's price range.

Thanks.

I would first check around the OCN market place that is sold by a reputable seller and has warranty.

The 6870 will do the job but that price is too high IMO. I know that card drops to like 150-160's sometimes.
Small wonder.

if you can push the budget to $210 id go for a gtx 480. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130759 The performance is around that of the gtx 560Ti (which is $70 more).
The gtx 480 is a very hot card, so you need good airflow throughout the case.

The 6870 performs in-between the gtx 460 (radeon 6850 equivalent) and the gtx 560Ti.

The gtx 480 will yield you around 1-6frames higher than the 6870.

What would be a good card around that price if I went with ATI?

xfx is not the bestest manufacturer..If that card was made by sapphire..I would already have it :lachen.gif:
I mean..XFX is reliable..but they gimp up the overclocking. No voltage control.
TBH..For your games..which aren't extremely graphic-intensive..you could do with this:

I only like XFX for their 'double lifetime warranty' which they discontinued after the 7 series.

Go for the 6950 used, you will have much better luck and overclocking with a 6950.
I've seen 560Ti's come down a lot more than usual lately.

Basically, find a card on the marketplace with some sort of warranty left (if you must), and you'll get a great deal.

If you're one for buying new, wait for another sale on a 560Ti, or a 6950.

id save a few more bucks and pick up the gtx 480 as well. If it has to be ATI id look for a used 6950 2gb

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102948
but they don't make a 2 gig version. =/

You could get a 560Ti 448-core for $190 a while back... that will WIPE the floor with this card

just wait for a deal on slickdeals.net

Hey pregame! I just bought a XFX 6870 doubleD and my first impression is great. It can run BF3 on High quality with 60+ fps. I think it would be more than enough for the games you wrote. So if you are going for a 6870 you will not be disappointed. I game on a 1080p monitor. thumb.gif
