I don't know about paypal recipts, but there was nothing I could get that I could use from my debit card transaction that they would take. You're really at their mercy to if they want to be lenient or not I guess.

Then they would have to define cheating.

Game mods? Texture mods? Model mods?

Where does the line get drawn between 'cheating' and 'modding' it can be an extremely fine line if done right.

Cheating = gaining an unfair advantage through the use of modifying files or variables server or client side tongue.gif

Actually what gets you banned are the edits done to client server interaction.
If you mod your CS:S models to be all yellow that is not cheating. (client side only)
If you change the client file that shows models as being yellow through walls that is cheating. (client - server)
- this is true at least with source games.

Might just be me but I don't really see how cheating is such a big deal. *shrug* A specific ban from online gameplay in specific games would be better.

It's a big deal because these people are a cancer on the gaming community. Therefore, a ban across the entire service they're using would be good since it'd be a nice deterrent not to do it again, or better still, at all. Getting caught cheating and losing online access to all your games? Fine by me.

No. Because then the problem still exists. What they SHOULD do, is just flat out FIX what is being exploited to begin with.

All most companies do these days, is just slap a bandaid over the problem, then ignore it after that. But they never really fix it.

You do realize how hard it is to code a anti cheat that won't be bypassed? Sure the texture hacks are easy fix, which Valve has already fixed by having servers use sv_pure, but hacks that are coded to inject while you're playing are much more difficult.

Which they do, but when people are paying for hacks (because most cheater are using paid-for hacks) then that's also a problem. They should fix the exploits and ban the people using them. Why should cheaters get off free and why should be blame the developers for not noticing or fixing an exploit quick enough? Both, imho.
