Price vs capacity vs speed: decent SSD on the cheap?

So, I was looking for a decent 2.5 SATA SSD for my laptop, both as a performance boost and to help keep the heat down since the venting kinda sucks.
But, with so many brands, mlc vs slc, speeds, controllers, good lord I don't know where to start.

So, might as well describe what I"ll be doing. Mostly just internet browsing, and managing my 20 or so gig library of music and videos, converting media, scanning for duplicates.
All under a Linux environment. Any ideas? I hear OCZ has some decent ones but again, no idea where to start.

I would go for the crucial M4, it has one of the most stable controllers, pretty decent speed and price, i've owned multiple of them for multiple different builds and never had a problem with them

64 gb - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148441

128 gb with transfere kit - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148448

128 gb without kit - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148442

i mean let the reviews of people speak for themselves. thumb.gif

hope that was useful info, good luck

150 for a 128gb, nice. Guess that's as close to 1:1 gb to $ as I'm going to get.

Well, thanks, time to save up for one smile.gif

There are always cheaper ssd to be had. But the m4 is a far more reliable choice. Not worth skimping on a few $$$ to get a crap drive.

I picked up a 240 agility 3 for 229 from tigerdirect. Good speeds and killer price for a game disk.
