Ripjaws compatibility check

Thread Starter
Hi. I've managed to make a wishlist for my next major PC upgrade to the x79 platform. Due to the slow availability of cash, I decided to start buying my new components one by one starting with RAM. Of course, I'm not gonna let my new RAM sit around and do nothing while I finish buying the rest of the components. So...

Will this RAM stick be compatible with my current Gigabyte X58A-UD3R motherboard (see signature)?

G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900) Desktop Memory Model F3-14900CL10S-8GBXL

Here's my wishlist if you are interested in further assisting me with compatibility advice:

I don't know why it wouldn't be? On ASUS' website on the product page it will tell you what RAM a mobo supports.

sure it will run nps until you build your x79 rig.. you just wont have triple channel is all.. which leads me to recommend you think about 4 sticks of RAM for your x79 so you have the benefits of quad channel RAM configuration as it will really give a nice performance boost .. smile.gif

nps, with x79, RAM works like this
1 stick = single channel
2 sticks = dual channel
3 sticks = triple channel
4 sticks = quad channel

is the basic set up
6 sticks in triple and 8 sticks in quad

5 and 7 sticks run in i think a mixed mode (not sure) smile.gif

yes, they like to market 2 dimm kits as dual channel, or 3 dimm kits as triple channel and 4 dimm kits as quad channel kits..

as long as you sticks match specs and even better 2 of the same kits as to avoid and possible stability issues then you can run 2 kits and will run in quad channel.. just place them in the correct slots as to your mobo's instruction guide or website smile.gif
