3770K@5700 DICE Overclock benching Gigabyte Z77X-UD3H - Page 2

Sorry for the delay in getting back, on AIR it took 1.400v to run @ 4949 stable with the H-100 I was running 5.3 that took 1.475v, the cooler you can keep the CPU the less volts and higher clocks, but like I said over 5.3 it just becomes a HEAT MUNGR thats where you need extreme cooling, even my SS would only go to 5.5 stable and that took 1.65v te dice was the best of course 5.7GHz stable benching but I will go LN2 maybe this weekend and try to blow it up smile.gif. It looks like maybe in the 6.4 to 6.6GHz possible stable benching on LN2 we shall see!!

Thanks for replying.

Well I will be doing a custom water cooling loop, and I want to achieve atleast 5ghz, but alot of people are saying, because of the high temps with ivy they are really struggling to get beyond 4.8ghz for 24/7, since you have to use about 1.35v onwards, this is on high end air(noctua) or H100, so what were your temps when you had nearly 5GHz with 1.4v ?

Do you think with a custom watercooling loop, a good one... that you could achieve 5.2ghz stable... obviously it depends on the board and the cpu chip, but in terms of temps. Say you had to use 1.45v for 5.2ghz, do you think the temps would stay under 80/90c on a good custom watercooling loop ?

Or even 5GHz, with 1.4v, on a good custom watercooling loop, for 24/7 use would it be able to handle the temperatures ?

It seems like these chips don't have a problem in terms of being stable with high frequency, but do have a problem because of heat being trapped into the cpu due to the new 3D transistors.

Thanks

Unless you get a REAL DEAD BEAT chip I dont see why a good water system cant do 5.0 stable under load, and as far as the max Vcore denagradng a chip I wouldent worry so much as Intel has a warranty you can buy for like $25 bucks no questions asked replacement if your that worried but they replace chips anyway as long as you dont call and tell them you had it running 6 GHz with 1.8V haha.

I'm not sure why PPL arent clocking 5GHz well I didnt have any issue with both my chips. my ambient temps were 72f and cpu idle was I think 32c@5.0 under load went to under mid 70's c best I remembe but I have a Z77 UD5H WB in tomorrow to test so maybe I can do some fast H-100 on it just to get set up for DICE smile.gif

Just a side note on Vcore I think these choips will be fine with up to 1.475v as long as your keeping the chip cool enough! remember you never running the chip under full load 24/7 unless your like me and doing nothing but benching, as none of the games out there run your chip ALL the time max load!

Thanks

Looks like eres a lot of PPL posting under 5 GHz Heat the issue as I knew will be goign LN2 next but with the UD5H and H100 I managed 4.7 stable

That is unless we're folding 24/7....thumb.gif

USELESS? I may not be talking folding which I have done for some time, but rather some info that PPL could find USEFUL in setting up there system thumb.gif

I will let you know when and if I post a folding thread on a system, you know I should build one just for folding again I did like that smile.gif

Thanks

Hey again, so did you manage to get 5GHz on the UD5 on air after ? Or even the H100 ?
Was the UD5 any better at OCing than the UD3 ? smile.gif

I'm waiting for the Asus Maximus Formula to come out, which hopefully will be on 8th may as rumoured, or a week later. I was going to get the Asus delux, but its arrival at the reseller is delayed frown.gif

I think the boards are about the same either one clocks very well with no Hic-Ups good clean bios and good bios updates.
