Well, it looks like AMD will take the mobile performance crown
. My only concern - will a decent amount of laptops actually carry 7850M/7870M GPU's (recall there were no 6850M/6870M GPU's last gen)? I'd like to see 78xxM cards as options in "mainstream" chassis, like Samsung Chronos and HP Envy - easily doable considering their TDP is the same as 6770M. I'm sure Lenovo will have a Y480p and Y580p ("p" suffix somehow stands for AMD and/or performance at Lenovo) seeing how successful the AMD cards should be this gen.
Kind of OT, but I feel bad for anyone who threw several thousand dollars at a 580M SLI system within the last ~6 months. Now (next 1-2 months), you can get a single 7970M in a laptop, with an IB quad and outperform a 580M SLI system with almost half the power consumption, for $1500-2000. That is how fast die shrinks improve mobile GPU performance.
