Don't buy Logitechs whatever you do. As for the BX5a..idk man. They're not my favorite as far as monitors go and you'd probably be better suited grabbing some KRKs used.
That's speaking from a music production stand point. The KRKs aren't the best either for ACTUALLY monitoring, although I think they sound much better for Gaming/Casual music listening compared to the BX5a. If you get powered monitors under 200-300 bucks they're all just glorified HiFi speakers with their own internal amps. I definitely wouldn't rate them as "leaps and bounds" over Hi Fi speakers and a receiver. (No offense man)
You don't have to get a 5.1 either. Just get yourself a stereo receiver if you are absolutely sure you won't be itching to add any center or rear speakers. Hell, I got my stereo receiver for free, it's an older JVC model but it does great and pushes my speakers more than I could ever desire.
If you simply must have MAudio, I've personally heard CX5s, they're great for the price. Plus they're sexy to boot. They're a bit larger, rated ninety watts, and have some extra options as far as EQ/Cutoff. I have yet to hear the next BX5d2's so I don't know how they match up against these.
You could also go with the Yamaha HS50m. Love those personally Edited by hstanford1 - 4/29/12 at 7:26am
