Nope, I got 2x 4gb kits and they were from the same batch. Thats the only thing of concern but not that biggy (having the same batch or not). But yeah they work fine.

Would buying some matt-black generic-branded ram heatsinks be a good move on these Samsungs? I'm trying to convince a friend to get these as he's into OC'ing as well but he's just really disliking the on the looks of it, lol.

Mine are cool as a cucumber @ 1866 + 1.45v.

Totally unnecessary, but it wont hurt.

I'm going to get some plain aluminum ones, go to my local hackerspace, and get my name, tag and some other stuff on them lasered for free, (because I work there smile.gif )

Are clip-on heatsinks available? Because at least they won't void the warranty, assuming the stickers are left on the chips (which won't hurt because these are low power RAM chips, not a power-hungry GPU that can fry). If your friend wants to glue on the heatsinks (after removing all stickers), tell him to use silicone rubber sealer, not thermal epoxy, because it conducts heat about as well but can be sliced through with a razor to remove the heatsinks safely.

You really need to stage an intervention for your friend and explain to him that heatsinks on DIMMs are as stupid as energy drinks, rear spoilers on cars, and Axe Body Spray. Better yet, tell him to remove the heatsinks on the memory he already has so the air circulation will improve. This may turn out well if he manages to tear off some RAM chips in the process.

I put some heatsinks on mine ages ago, looking to replace them and getting some led ones if possible
