Is my PSU causing random shut downs while gaming?

Recently when I am playing game my PC will randomly shut down no BSOD or any kind of warning. First thing that comes to mind is my power supply because I updated my PC a year or two ago and the only thing I didnt update was the PSU. The PSU is about 6 years old.

My specs:

CPU: intel core i5 760
RAM: G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
Motherboard: Asus p7p55d-e pro
Video card:nvidia gts 460
Power Supply:Thermaltake Toughpower 750W
OS: Windows 7

Here are some temps if anyone thinks its a overheating issue.

Idle temps
653

BIOS temps:
448

Temps while playing witcher 2:
648

The only thing that catches my eye with the temps is the CPUTIN and AUXTIN max values because it never shows those max values under the "values" tab so it never reaches that high but it shows that its around 70-84.

If it is a PSU issue what is a recommended PSU for my current rig?

Before we blame the PSU, reset the system to its default stock settings and try it from there.

If it still occurs:

Run Prime95 on the CPU, then use a stress testing software for the GPU (eg. OCCT) to rule CPU and GPU out.

Then rule the memory out by running memtest86.

If everything seems fine with those tests, you can then try to prime the CPU and stress the GPU simultaneously to put max stress on the power supply...and see where it goes from there.

Hope this helps. Cheers. smile.gif

EDIT: Make sure you watch those temps as well.

How long should I run these tests on stock settings?

About 6 hours each should be good. You could perhaps go 3 hours for the GPU test. I never stressed my GPU using OCCT for more than an hour.
But make sure you try gaming as usual with stock settings before jumping to that. I have a feeling you have a bad overclock.

EDIT: I just took a good look at your temps...it seems a bit high imo.

I tried playing my games on stock settings as well and still got the random shut downs. The temps above are all stock settings except of course the one that i said I OCed.

EDIT: Which temps seem high ? Lets just forget about the OC temps since that was just a test and I am under stock settings right now.

I tried OCCT and when I run it my pc shuts off 2 minutes in. The highest temp my GPU got was 65 degrees Celsius. I should also note I could play diablo 3 guest pass full way through which was like 2 hours and no crash, But when I played Alan wake on PC a higher intensive graphical game my PC shut off 20 minutes in. So is it safe to say its my power supply?
