New Roccat Savu optical mouse. - Page 38

Hi there my steelseries Xai is getting kinda old and the buttons have started to not respond very well and im seriously considering to buy the roccat savu. Is there anyone here that has used both the Xai and savu that can tell me about their build quality differences? Im searching for a mouse that has a better or same build quality as the Xai. I was considering the roccat kone but i got put off by the scroll wheel issues, does the savu have any of the issues that are present in the older versions?

Thanks, I wonder if they could be synced via Dropbox. I’ll have a hunt around later tonight.

Has anyone hated the shape of this mouse but has been able to get used to it? That's really the only thing holding me back as I can use my White PT Talent to reduce LOD without taping, and the DPI steps are fine.

I seem to much prefer the EC2 Evo and Zowie AM type shapes.

Had a quick look. Stats may be stored in the registry in binary format here:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ROCCAT\Savu\Statistic DB

Might have a further play when I have more time.

So quick note here, I got an EC1 and it tracks just fine on my Shinden. I suspect that the usage of an IR LED is partly to blame, the 3090's sensativity starts to drop off below 700 nm.

Might be more or less a firmware and tuning issue. Try a Deathadder and report back.

If anyone care about the LOD of Savu, I recommend using 4HD as it lowers its LOD to less than 2mm (just more than 1CD)

My DA's in pieces tongue.gif. I guess we're looking at a similar situation to the CM spawn?

Oh, I was reading the graph wrong, it seems IR LEDs should work fine.

Btw, has anyone performed actual testing to see if there's any acceleration in Savu?

I'm doing this: note my mouse and cursor's starting positions, then start making rapid and repeated circular motion (more like flat oval) with the mouse. After a while, I move my mouse back to the starting position and see if the cursor also stops at the starting position.

It seems that the result is mixed - sometimes it does stop at the starting position accurately. However, sometimes it drifts upward by quite a margin - and this is more visible in lower DPIs. Same for my Salmosa at 800DPI. Can anyone confirm this? It would be good if you can also compare with other "acceleration-free" mice too.

edit: and I'm testing this on Artisan Zero and QcK mini. Yet to test it on a hard pad like 4HD.
