New Roccat Savu optical mouse. - Page 56

Probably the only thing I don't like about it is the weight. Its a little too light but other than that its good. Still trying to get the dpi/sensitivity worked out though.

Mine is still going strong thumb.gif There's damage to the coatings - side grip becomes smooth, and the place where I rest my index finger has changed colour a bit (worn out?) but no big deal.

Guys do you know if savu 800 dpi and 400 dpi steps are correct? Because I feel they're slower than other mice 400 dpi and 800 dpi steps.

Thanks

Compared to which mice? Do the compared mice have a sensor with acceleration?

Oh i just mean whether there is slight difference like 400 being 380 and 800 being 760, etc - caused by sensor height/position or whatever.

Zero acceleration wink.gif

LED intensity, mouse feet thickness, sensor height, mouse pad, etc, can all change the CPI of a mouse. A difference of ~25 or lower is almost imperceivable.

The mice you are comparing could actually have a higher CPI than the Savu. Just because a box says 400 doesn't mean it will be very close to that number. Zowie is a good example of theoretical numbers on the box.

Small review:

Sensor + 1000hz:
1:1 hand movement. Nothing to add. Didn't notice the LOD being to high. Guess i am used to that.

Shape- and texturewise: (got 7,5 inches long hand, rather thin fingers)
-Slips from my hand. Impossible to grip comfortably, because of that it feels very heavy too. The DA has a better grip for me.
Reasons are: I use my ring finger to pick it from the right side. But theres no lip or angle where i could place it under (DA has). The area where the ring finger belongs is to small (not enough height). The biggest problem though is the grainy texture, i get no friction with that. This of course is different with everybody due to hand chemistry, I have dry hands. This slipperiness makes the mouse overall very uncomfortable to hold, and tiring. Maybe if I would remove it somehow. But I'm not sure. I could also simply put scotch tape everywhere, dry hands get a good hold with that. But I don't want to do that, then find out it doesn't change anything and then be unable to return it. I would had to use tape with stronger glue cause of the texture.

-Then it is too short for me, 3mm more would've been nice. Can't semi palm it, but for finger tip, as it is right now, it feels too big and heavy, or unhandy and i think even with a sticky texture. The shape just generally feels akward, can't really describe it. I am used to the Logitech G1 which fit like a glove from the beginning, so does the DA (but too heavy).

By the way that grainy texture feels nowhere as rough as the g9x's precision shell whichhas bigger grains i think. Anyway, unpleasant for me.

As reference:

Shapes I like
WMO
LG1
Azurues Mini
DeathAdder
Razer Naga (fits very well, picking up ofcourse not so much)

I dislike
G400 (due to right side lip, otherwise dunno)
G9x (with each shell and without any)
Ikari Laser
IME 1.1 (cause outside angle)
