Overclocking Sapphire 7970 OC (for the first time)

Thread Starter
Hello all,

Recently i got this card:
http://www.sapphiretech.com/presentation/product/?cid=1&gid=3&sgid=1157&pid=1463&psn=&lid=1&leg=0

Before this i used to have very old 4870, so i need some help overclocking this GPU.

Right now i am doing test only on older hardware (cpu\ram), soon i am getting new cpu\ram, but i would like to get familiar with this card before i order new parts. rolleyes.gif

Current settings:

Is this safe? Also, when i had my power to 0 , drivers were crashing (amd stopped responding messages etc, is this normal?)

I was reading on hardocp.com and it says that power should be increased to full 20% , is this safe? (I didn't have this option on my previous card).

Also, driver stopped responding message, was it due this option in catalyst or due bad power suply?

I currently have Antec True Power 650.

I was also going to follow this instructions:
http://www.hardocp.com/article/2012/04/10/sapphire_hd_7970_oc_edition_video_card_review/3

but there is a problem with Trixx, i am waiting for newer version.

Thank you for reading and your time.

Any help\advice is very appreciated.

Regards

Have you looked into MSI Afterburner for your overclocking software? Most people use it for the ease of use for newbies.
