What happened was she had the doctor give her an amniocentesis to determin if her child had a genetic defect like down syndrome. The test came back negative so she went full term gave birth and then found out later her daughter had down syndrome so they sued for "misdiagnosis" and won on the premis that if they had known they would have had an abortion. It completely ignores the fact that most medical tests that are done, if it says "negative" it just means not detected. It doesn't necessarily mean "absolutely isn't there". Yet a moronic jury gave this woman and her husband money over something that the doctors had ZERO control over. In fact I would argue that it came from THEIR genes so if they want to "blame" anyone it should be themselves. But you know how it is now, common sense and the natural order of things have no place in our society anymore.
*edit - Here's a link to the story. I know they won because Lars Larson spent half his show reporting and discussing it on I think Tuesday or Wednesday.
