Should I get the Nexus or wait for S3/iPhone5?

Ive been wanting to upgrade my antiquated iPhone 3g for a while. Im not under contract and pay only $30/month for my service; Id like to stay out of a contract unless I get a really good deal on a phone.

Google has the Nexus for $400 right now but should I wait instead for the S3 (another 1-3 months before reaching US market)?

I'm fairly sure that if you get the S3 off of contract then it will be much more expensive than $400. I don't think that a device can get much better than the Nexus, and if it can it would only be future proof-ish, I just don't think the need for a quad core or super high res screen is needed on an Android device. Currently I've yet to find anything that my phone can't run (dual core exynos). I'd say do it, go for the Nexus, you will not be disappointing unless you don't enjoy Android.

I actually want an android phone for my next phone. Ive been through a lot of unnecessary stress with my previous iphones because of its restrictiveness.

Only thing that really turns me off about the Nexus is that there is no memory card slot. I have a ton of music that I want to put on there so I can leave my ipod at home.

How much are you expecting the S3 to cost after contract?

Well, seeing as it would be a new flagship global device, I'm estimating $700ish. I'm not expert, but it's speculated to be the worlds latest and greatest and overall number one handset on the market (rivaled by the HTC One X).

I love my Nexus, but the S3 is supposed to be similarly spec'ed with TouchWiz and a few upgrades. It would probably be a better choice unless you highly prefer the stock Android ICS experience. Have you tried out Android before?

Never owned one but have played with my friend's nexus and my cousin's s2. I use many Google services so it should be nice.

I'm no economist or market guru, but look at HTC's latest flagship, it's $700ish.

Android doesn't even support USB-HOST for portable DAC's and amps. What a joke.
Whereas Apple has a myriad of third party add-ons such as my very nice Venturecraft Go-DAP. God bless the iDock connector.

So what do the new phones offer the 3G can't do? Besides a little faster processing speeds of course.

Yea it would be nice to be able to use DACs and amps but I rarely have the time to enjoy music when im not home so it's not that big of a loss for me. I mainly want to use it for connecting to my car's headunit.

I can no longer run over half of the apps I use to run because I am still stuck on OS3.x. The phone's hardware is too slow to run higher os smoothly. It crashes all the time for certain apps and when i go to certain sites. I do a lot of web browsing and need a responsive phone that wont crash when loading a big site.

It's a huge increase in processing power which makes all the difference really.. and ive been holding off on buying a new phone for a while now but i just cant stand this slow thing any more
