Anyone use arm mounts for 27" monitors?

Thread Starter
This has been boggling my mind since I bought my HP ZR2740w 27" monitor. It's in the sweetspot just so almost no monitor arms work for it and I really wanted one.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824994063 This one seems like the clear winner, but looking closer at it on their site it doesn't seem like it will work.
My monitor is 17.8 pounds, but they state depth makes a different and this is 2.7" deep. 2.5" deep is their max along with a 17lb weight lol.

I guess even if it did work, it would poorly.

The only thing i've found is this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824994039 should support the weight, some people said it jiggles.
doesn't seem like nearly the same thing and I don't know if it's even worth buying over the stand that came with the monitor.

With all the 27" monitor fans in this forum I was hoping someone could give me some guidance here, any tips?

With all the 1,000's of people who post about 27" Korean monitors around here, someone HAS to have ran into this problem. I would still be very grateful (rep+) if someone could share their experience here.

The Ergotron MX arm is a monstrous beast of a monitor arm. It will handle your monitor well.

As for the wobbliness, it can be when the arm is fully extended, but it's not a loose wobble. It's what you'd expect of a monitor arm holding up 10 kilograms at a half metre lever arm from a desk clamp kind of wobble. That is, it's not flimsy.

In my use of the MX arm with a 27" monitor, it hasn't had any problems.

It does look pretty damn nice, and my only choice. It pisses me off though it extends it only about an INCH closer to me than I can get wtih my keyboard on the the table W/wristrest and scooting the monitor as close as it will go. No much of a gain there compared to the longer arm. Still Thanks for the input Kevinsbane, I'll leave that one as my backup plan if there are no better ones out there.

Use some Ergotron MXs. I've got two and they are really nice. One on a 24" one on a 30" just use the adjustment screws and the large panels won't move a bit.

Holy moly, I was hoping for something like this, seeing as how there is zero info on this stuff, thanks so much! Funny enough it still changes nothing.

The Monoprice one is the only one that could work, but it seems a little thin and can't move up or down (at least not with adjustment) and no portrait.

What stand do you use for your Catleap (or whatever) Silicon?

I linked this one in my original post lol. Please do show me any pics you have of it though, and your thoughts. It does look quite nice, but it's a such a damn shame the Ergotron LX model is better in everyway and has more reach. A lot of people use the LX with thier 27" monitors, but usually 13lb-15lb models that ARE NOT IPS PANELS. I wonder if mine would work on the LX stand at all.

The only real thing that makes me 2nd guess the MX is that it doesn't reach out as far as I would like it to.

EDIT: Funny enough I guess nothing changed from my first post and the Ergotron MX is still the best option for this monitor, so Newegg will deliver once again! I guess i'll post pics when I get it here and installed.
