[Se7ensins] Crytek Wants Crysis 3 to be the Best Looking Game of All Time - Page 20

i personally find it hard to compare the two. i love every Crysis game, and i will never understand how you guys see Crysis 2 as looking crap? i just played it last night on my notebook, GTX485m without the HD texture pack and was still blown away with the visuals. just did the scene where you verse that giant alien in the subway station. looks awesome.

but the games environments are so different, the gameplay itself is actually quite different, visually they really should be different. imo graphics do NOT make a game. yes they help and yes they are nice, but they dont make a game. hence why some of us still play games from the early 90's, coz they are fun. what visuals do though, is create that atmosphere. Crytek wanted you to feel caught in a war in a nearly destroyed city under invasion, using urban warfare in not only an unfamiliar environment but with unfamiliar equipment. the visuals used reflect that imo.

to be honest, every time someone bags Crysis 2's visuals, all they do is say Crysis 1 is better. that says great things for not only the now dated CryEngine 1, but Crysis 2 as well, doesnt seem to have any other competitors. just because Crysis 1 might look better to some, doesnt mean Crysis 2 looks "crap" on the whole.

personally i think the physics were more fluid in Crysis 2 though. not as interactive and destructive, but more fluid. but meh loved em all anyway and Crysis 3 cant come soon enough. thumb.gif

I installed BlackFire + MaLDoHDv3 for Crysis 2 and it made a HUGE difference so I take back what I said about Crysis 2. I already enjoyed the Crysis 2 story so with the mods its even better.I do hope Crysis 3 is graphically amazing & not a dumbed down console port. Starting to really hate ports

I could agree with that. Would be nice to have a Crysis game where you infiltrate say N. Korea and maybe have to uncover how they got hold of the nanosuit technology. Fighting actual people was way more fun in both games than fighting the aliens...

This would be a good game. I agree totally that the aliens are pretty awful in both games. Unfortunately with Crysis 2 Crytek pretty much set it up that they are going to be a major focus of the third game.

Crysis 1 and 2 both shine with the infantry on infantry combat rather then the nanosuit man versus giant bullet sponges combat. Honestly I'd be totally ok with the Crysis 2 aliens if the kill times weren't so long.

The best levels of Crysis 1 are those where you fight KPA the aliens are just annoying save from the level when you're inside of the mothership which stands out and is my favorite part of the game that includes aliens.
Similar thing can be said for Crysis 2 , things just get tedious with the aliens ..............

break off from EA, then you can truly make a great game

That's a good idea, they could come up with a prequel to crysis with no aliens
