*Sigh*

So many bits of misinformation in this thread I wont even care to refute it.

Anyway, I thought Crysis 2 looked better than Crysis and it was a far better game than that glorified benchmark with its vapid jungle-scape, stupid AI, bland online component, and its illusion of choice. Call of Duty 4 launched around the same time and not only did it sell more than Crysis, but more people were playing it online and for longer.

I think exactly the opposite , while original Crysis had amazing graphics way ahead of it's time , great story , multi player with big maps and vehicles , huge beautifully looking areas and signature Crytek's sandbox gameplay , for me Crysis 2 was a step back in nearly all aspects.
Initial fiasco of a release , before mentioned "Press Start" , horrible low quality console textures, small levels and compromised gameplay due to multi platform nature of the game , DX11 duct taped a month after and finally blatant copy/paste CoD in nanosuit multi player full of cheaters.
As for the last bit , i still play Crysis Wars while I'm not even thinking about coming back to that sad attempt on copying CoD which was Crysis 2 MP.

OT: Crytek sure talks big and as i would easily believe that before , after Crysis 2 i will just wait and see , the fact that it's a multi platform again makes me really suspicious.
They can't make it look any better on consoles because they simply can't handle that and making it really take advantage of current high end PC's would require developing two different versions of the game which i highly doubt will happen.
So yeah Crytek come back when you have some actual PC footage not some blurry Xbox trier and we'll talk business.
As i said many times before I am (was) a great Crytek fan and Far Cry and Crysis are one fo my favorite games but if the're going to serve us another consolized Crysis with CoD style multi player they can go console only and not even bother filling me with false hope.

I agree with you 100% to me, all the people who think Crysis 2 was a improvement are the COD generation who feel 1 path of travel = best gameplay ever. Crysis 2 made me sick. What started out as a great game turned into a total waste. If anyone played Crysis 1 MP with mods it made a great experience. Sure, Crysis never had the fan base COD did. Why? Cause only REAL gaming machines could handle it. That fool above you compares a game with far lower quality textures to a game that to even today is consider a strong benchmarking game. COD4 was a good game. I played the hell out of it. But crysis 1 vs Crysis 2..I'll take Crysis 1 any day.

Eh, I enjoyed the more cinematic feel that Crysis 2 had compared to Crysis 1. Give me more of that. There were still plenty of ways to attack each mission. You people on here make it sound like Crysis 2 was an on the rails shooter...lol @ you.

Just fix the cheaters in the multiplayer this time, and implement a system that will keep me wanting to log in for months. The Crysis 2 FPS on cocaine multiplayer experience was very addictive. It makes something like BF3 look like it plays in slow motion boredom comparatively.

Agreed, Crysis 2 is a step BACKWARD from Crysis 1, laughable abilities, linear gameplay, Controls.

It's amazing how CoD has managed to pollute the entire gaming industry. Every Company sees how well CoD sells and desperately want to repeat that kind of financial success, so instead of innovating and staying true to their roots, they abandon everything that made them great in the first place, and blindly imitate the competition in a pathetic attempt to make a quick buck.

At least Crysis 1 will remain a classic.

Thats not saying much. All COD really is after COD4 (Easy to play anyone can be good at it). People like easy shooters.

Also, there is this: “It’s really important for us to underline that [Crysis 3] is not only about the technology, but about the setting and the mood.”
Remember what they said about Crysis 2? Anyway, I won't hold my breath. I never found the gameplay of any of these titles to be that compelling in either case.
They had to use a cityscape, the consoles couldn't handle the large, outdoor jungle environments. It was a purely technical decision. If you have to render less objects the objects you do render can be higher detail.

But Crysis 1 is on console. Digitial Foundry did a face off and it was basically high settings at 720. The consoles had nothing to do with the change of direction in Crysis and this myth needs to stop.

Again Crysis 1 is on both consoles.
