[Se7ensins] Crytek Wants Crysis 3 to be the Best Looking Game of All Time - Page 8

If they develop this game for PC first then release it . After a year later, dumb it down to the point where it's possible for a 3 year old kid to play the game without any problems then release it for current gen consoles.

Crysis 2 runs at 40~FPS on my machine and doesn't even look good. Crysis 1 however looks epic and runs great around 60FPS.

First of all, Crysis 2 definitely looks better than Crysis 1 if both are unmodded. Crysis 2 has tessellation, better stock textures and better lighting.
As for optimization, Crysis 2 definitely runs better on lower-end PCs. For high-end PCs they're about the same since Crysis 2 dx11 is also not that well optimized (Crysis 1 is definitely not optimized well).

Anyway, I thought Crysis 2 looked better than Crysis and it was a far better game than that glorified benchmark with its vapid jungle-scape, stupid AI, bland online component, and its illusion of choice. Call of Duty 4 launched around the same time and not only did it sell more than Crysis, but more people were playing it online and for longer.

I think exactly the opposite , while original Crysis had amazing graphics way ahead of it's time , great story , multi player with big maps and vehicles , huge beautifully looking areas and signature Crytek's sandbox gameplay , for me Crysis 2 was a step back in nearly all aspects.
Initial fiasco of a release , before mentioned "Press Start" , horrible low quality console textures, small levels and compromised gameplay due to multi platform nature of the game , DX11 duct taped a month after and finally blatant copy/paste CoD in nanosuit multi player full of cheaters.
As for the last bit , i still play Crysis Wars while I'm not even thinking about coming back to that sad attempt on copying CoD which was Crysis 2 MP.

OT: Crytek sure talks big and as i would easily believe that before , after Crysis 2 i will just wait and see , the fact that it's a multi platform again makes me really suspicious.
They can't make it look any better on consoles because they simply can't handle that and making it really take advantage of current high end PC's would require developing two different versions of the game which i highly doubt will happen.
So yeah Crytek come back when you have some actual PC footage not some blurry Xbox trier and we'll talk business.
As i said many times before I am (was) a great Crytek fan and Far Cry and Crysis are one fo my favorite games but if the're going to serve us another consolized Crysis with CoD style multi player they can go console only and not even bother filling me with false hope.

Nothing is pathetic about making more profits, maybe when PC games other than WOW pull in that kind of money they will develop for PC first.

You get 60 fps !! I have pretty much a similar set up as yours & I get an average of 30fps on Crysis 1 at 1080p with everything set to very high & no AA.

EDIT : I might have installed some Reli mod.

It's a bit pre-mature to bash and say Crysis 3 will not live up to its claim of being the best looking game ever. As of right now, we only have a small teaser trailer. Sure, it may look like the game is more similar to Crysis 2, but they still might be working on the areas that are more "open-ended". If anything, my guess is that EA pushed them to make a quick compilation that is loaded with adrenaline; with that, you get closer combat footage. The point is that the release date is still a year away and we still don't know what Crytek has in store.

Now, with that said, I'm not ignoring the disaster that was Crysis 2. To me, it was indeed a step back. And because of that, I wont be pre-ordering Crysis 3. I want to know what the game is like before I decide to make a purchase. At the same time, I'm not totally close minded about this either. If Crysis 3 does deliver, then I guess I'll look into buying it. BUT NO PRE-ORDERS FOR THE LOVE OF GOD.
