Processor / Mobo or Video Card Upgrade this week?

Thread Starter
So I've been ordering parts, and I have a LIAN LI PC-V354B on the way with a 550w OCZ ZT Modular power supply on the way.

I'm using a really crappy DX2300 HP mATX Micro Tower, Pentium D 925 at 3ghz, 1 gig of ddr2 ram and 250w power supply at the moment.

I probably know the answer already, but should I order a video card I'm thinking of the GTX 460 or possibly 550ti orrrr maybe even a 4870 or 7770? I play at 1680 by 1050 right now, not about to upgrade my monitor for awhile but I do want high settings at smooth frames.

My other choice for an upgrade instead of the graphics card this week, and I can get that next week is...

4gigs of Gskill ram at 1333, Asrock h61 mATX mobo with Sata 6 and USB 3, and an Intel Core i3 2120(Same price as the 2100)

Any thoughts? Comments?

I vote for the mb/cpu upgrade then the GPU upgrade. For the GPU I would pick the 460 out of the options you listed.

If you have some extra spending money though, go with a 6950 or 560ti instead, you'll be able to max everything @ 1680x1050 for atleast another gpu generation.

Honestly I would go for the full system upgrade before getting the graphics card. You would see much better performance than if you simply got a new card in basically everything you do. After the system upgrade I'd look into something like a 5850 or a 460 to hold you down. At that resolution those cards should have no trouble running most games at high settings at 45+ fps.
