I have no idea what to get for a motherboard, the last thread I made I put a gigabyte g1 assassin but thats pure overkill. and I dont believe it comes with a processor, so Im trying to re-figure that setup.

I want a really good motherboard and processor, that I can water cool. and Im trying to find really good graphics cards I can water cool. the last pair were 1300.. D:

Also looking for 8-12 GB of RAM..

open for suggestions as im fairly new to pc building..

Thanks! :3

What is the desired application for this computer. If gaming I would go with i5 2500k and ASUS Maximus IV Extreme Z then something like a GTX580. That should run you about $1k. If you want more CPU then I would go with the i7 2600k. I would be reluctant to recommend a 3930k as almost no one really needs it and there are no really great X79 boards; all the ASUS x79s have audio issues, EVGA x79 are lackluster after Shamino left, and none of the MSI,Gigabyte, or ASRock x79 are all too notable. My rig is textbook overkill and I have never gone above 6GB of ram used.

Im going for gaming, but even the G1 wasnt 1000.. I dont want rediculous overkill xD I think Ill stick with 8GB of RAM as well.

Heres my build idea.. btw.

http://www.overclock.net/t/1246454/my-build-project

Might change to these RAM cards:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233147&nm_mc=OTC-Froogle&cm_mmc=OTC-Froogle-_-Memory+(Desktop+Memory)-_-Corsair-_-20233147

also thinking about staying with the assassin, and adding this http://www.amazon.com/Intel-i7-960-Processor-Socket-LGA1366/dp/B0036Z6GH2/ref=dp_cp_ob_e_title_0

the intel i7 960

I need to figure out the graphics cards though..

I also think that maybe Ill just use ONE of this graphics card.
http://www.evga.com/products/moreInfo.asp?pn=02G-P4-2689-KR&family=GeForce%20600%20Series%20Family&sw=
a EVGA GeForce GTX 680 Hydro Copper
That way it takes a couple hundred off the build cost, and should work at least GOOD with games right?

My only question is if I can change the direction of one on the ports to the other side of the card. idk if thats possible to do or not.

What?!? The Rampage IV Extreme blows every board on the market out of the water other than the EVGA SR-X. It is left out of comparison reviews of other boards because it skews the results too heavily.
