The card is really kinda meh nowadays and I would honestly look around and score a 5770 or something  here on oCN to replace it. (and if you can upgrade your CPU). If not, grab a 4850 or 4870. Those can be had cheaply (30 bucks maybe) and are a BIG improvement over what you have and respond well to overclock (well most of them anyways).

X19xx series - HD2xxx, HD 3xxx, HD4xxx - 3 jumps up. the 4870 is as fast as 5770 but the 5770 supports DX11.

for a sec i thought someone brought back a 5-year old thread

And youll want a dual core cpu minimum to make use of a new gpu. If that semoon is am2 or better an athlon ii or evrn phenom ii would be a worth while upgrade. For just $80 you can score an athlon ii x3 or even x4. If your one of the lucky ones whos close to a microcenter even a phenom ii x4 for $80 is not unseeable. I got an athlon ii x3 now unlocked to phenom ii x4 works great. Any budget? Heres an outline:

Budget gpu cpu
$50 radeon 6450 same
$80 radeon 6670 same
$100 radeon 6570 athlon ii x2 (oem or discounted)
$120 radeon 6670 athlon ii x2 (oem or discounted)
$140 radeon 5770 athlon ii x2 (oem or discounted)
$160 radeon 5770 athlon ii x3 (oem or discounted)

But ive also heard some sempons can be unlocked to athlon ii x2s. Something to look in to

I wouldn't have even payed that little for that card. Compared to even cheap offerings today, that card is trash. Add to that the fact that the X1950 uses a lot of power under load, and it makes virtually any low end modern card look very good.

Scrap that card, and get another one. If you can afford a Crosshair V board, you can afford a better GPU. I believe in you. thumb.gif

your Radeon x1950pro is still fine for games today.
It still passes the minimum requirements on the newest games.

However, your AMD Sempron singlecore fails the minimum required for modern games like Crysis, Call of Duty, and Skyrim.
The best thing for you to do is to sell the Sempron and replace it with an Athlon II X2 dualcore.
You're games will run faster instead of replacing the x1950 with a fast card that will only get bottlenecked by the sempron
