Are you sure you aren't trolling?

If you ask a question, followed by, "No I'm not trolling." Sounds like your trolling.

I have a play station 3 & Xbox. I have a PC Desktop at the moment its a old AMD 64 dual core system with 4gb ddr2 and two gtx 7800 in sli mode total of 768mb video . My Internet Speed is 117mbps download/15mbps upload. I have a hauppauge HD PVR that is hooked up to my ps3 at the moment. I broadcast at Twitch.tv on my dual core system. I can stream any resolution except the 1024x 720 or 1080P setting resolution. The reason why i can't because when you are broadcasting on 720P resolution on Xsplit software, you need atleast 4 cores. so automatically once I started streaming my CPU cores is getting maxed out pinging at 85-100 % back and foward. Streaming on HD on xsplit requires a lot of encoding just like (THEBENSON has stated above the post..) So then i said okay fine.. my system is like 6 years old ... let me see my older brother laptop. His laptop is a i5 3.4ghz quad core with 4GB DDR3 and 1536 Video Card on board. So i said hmm this should let me broadcast on 720 with this laptop since it has 4 cores but no hyperthreading...... (Laptop connected by Ethernet by the way..) I got the same exact issue all 4 cores started pinging at 80% and above...so then i said hmmm.. my little brother has a i7 820 quad core with hyperthreading 8 threads... and he has 2GB of DDR3 memory and 1GB video card... So i load xsplit on my little brother desktop and I went to task manager on his machine I noticed he has Quadcore with 8 physical cores and i said hmm this has to work!.. So I launched the live broadcast in 720P and its streamed beautifully no problems whatsoever it was so clear and smooth I had tons of friends come by my stream and they witnessed no lag. So i said man i7 820 is like one of the first i7 series and its doing a fantastic job. Now its the year 2012, and I want to build a machine that can last me for a very long time like 2-3 years or even more... so I got the money for the 3930K 6 core / 12 threads, Because I need it for Streaming, Gaming ... and in the future i would like to do video editing and 3D rendering as well. I know that when Video games in a few years would start using 4 cores or more.. I would not have to worry about maximum requirements...but only GPU upgrades...

For one your brothers labtop i5 is a lot weaker then desktop i5. I believe all labtop i5 are dual cores with 4 threads... Meaning 2 physical core and 4 logical cores.

Love my 3820. I stream 1080p to two tv's using PS3MediaServer while playing Starcraft, minecraft, civ 5, ect and it doesn't stutter. I bench alot higher than most and am able to run 4.625 24/7 at 1.38vcore without a hitch. Can hit 5hz stable but need a little over 1.4 vcore. I don't need anymore than 4.625 though and could run more 24/7 but the 4.6 oc satisfies my needs and then some.

He already said he wants to use his computer for streaming games on twitch tv. X79 is obviously better suited for that, its designed to have more bandwidth in pretty much every area.

The only reason recent reviews recommend the 2600k and 2700k was because of the price difference a couple months ago. But when you can get socket 2011 motherboards for 200 - 260$ right now, there is no point in cheeping out.
