I was very interested in buying the Abyssus but i have always read it had jitter problems. This same problem with jitter was fixed by a firmware update on the Deathadder 3.5G. The issue is that you cannot update the firmware on the Abyssus so people assumed that newer production of the abyssus would have the updated firmware. This has never been confirmed in all my digging and there are reports of people who have newer production models but still have the jitter.

The decision i was about to make was between the Zowie AM and the Razer Abyssus. I did not want to risk getting a Abyssus with jitter.

If the jitter happens on ANY pad it's no good. I sure didn't settle for "well it works on this pad well but on this pad not so well". That just means theres something inherently wrong with the sensor. Thats not an acceptable solution because It should work the same on all pads.

I have one of those magic abyssus mice that doesn't jitter at all. I have over 20 different cloth pads and it works like a charm on all of them:thumb:

If you look at places such as aliexpress or even ebay you can get some really cheap deals on one. I think i paid like 25 dollars for mine, shipped. With an investment like that it might be worth gambling that it'll be a good one. Else you could always purchase from a retailer in your country and return it if it happens to be one with jitter issues.

I really like the abyssus, sans the shape. i think the shape is pretty akward, but still useable. I'll be receiving a zowie AM in the mail soon, so hopefully that will be my ultimate mouse. Good luck in your quest.

EDIT:
Regarding the abyssus jitter: I did have jitter when I plugged the mouse during windows install. I was using a mico at the time so I didn't care to fix it at the time, but when my mico broke I switched back and never had jitter again. I wonder if the jitter is relative to which USB port you plug the mouse in, or any other factor like that. I think this was the case for me. The usb port in the front of my case was the one I used initially (without razer drives too). Now I have it plugged in the back of the mobo with the abyssus 2.0 drivers and the mouse works flawlessly, even on the same pad that jittered initially.

Sorry for the wall of text, but maybe this could be relevant to discovering a solution to the jitter issue some people have.
