Blacklight Retribution

Not sure if there's another thread on this game. If there is, there deserves to be more than one thread tongue.gif

Just downloaded last night, I highly recommend it to anyone with even a slight interest in FPS's. The gameplay is solid from the combat to customization. The graphics are amazing. One of the most interesting aspects of the game is the "in-game wallhack". You press "v" by default to toggle a view where you can see enemy's/objectives through walls. This ability's use is limited by a meter which drains rather quickly and takes a bit to recharge. This feature definitely adds a more tactical side to the game which I find to be great. You simply have to try it...
Download is 4gb from the site and about an hour of patching.

Gameplay:

There has been a few threads floating around on it. I absolutely love the game, and love zombie studios. However I haven't touched it for a couple weeks now, and have no plans to. Perfect World is set to ruin what could have been a decent fps. New weapons requiring lottery ticket purchases to obtain, no focus on patches that implement vital components (party system, stats, private matches), yet new content keeps spewing out that makes them more money.

I've since moved on to Tribes: Ascend, and haven't looked back, but BL:R is still one heck of an FPS. Just another case of a publisher flushing potential down the toilet.

I somewhat agree. The concept of "zen" is just like any other game, except different. The GP rate in this game is pretty solid, so I find there's no need to invest real money into the game unless your just lazy or want some specific camo for your gun (which you can obtain by leveling). The cash shop in this game is different than most others...
I actually tried out Tribes before this, and wasn't too fond of the actual combat system. I mean, skiing is fun and all, but there's little skill involved with actually shooting your opponent. You kind of have to lead your shots on a bit, kinda like Halo 1 for PC, but way more extreme. They are two entirely different games though. I personally like them both but Blacklight takes the cake. How can you beat weapon tags?! Just that little glowing pot of gold hanging from my gun gives me so much satisfaction. thumb.gif

When is this coming to Steam's F2P section? I'm not going to touch it until that happens. Don't ask me why, it's just not going to happen...

Then you ain't gonna be playing the game. I read on the official Blacklight forums that the game will not be going to Steam.

How long ago was this? About a month ago I saw something about it coming to Steam.

The game is solid, I've been playing it since the beta (not trying to sound like a hipster tongue.gif). I haven't spent much time with it since I suck, but I'll change that.

It was in the last two weeks at the latest. Honestly I could be wrong as I'm constantly looking at different forums for different games but I'm pretty sure it was this one. I'd look it up myself right now if I could but I'm at work and those sites are blocked.

Honestly I wish it would come to Steam as well. I would probably play it more.

Why does it have to be on steam in order for you to play it?

I dont think it has to be. I used to just run it through the launcher itself till I added it to steam
