Quick question :

I'm currently testing how far i can push my Core i7 2600k

How long should i run a Prime95 stress test until considering this is a stable overclock ?

Pretty sure it stops itself after it reaches a certain amount of tests, but I would say 12 hours with no errors is a stable overclock.

An average test would be about 24-48 hours.
You should also run Intel burn test and OCCT, as sometimes one of the test isn't enough.
About 25-50 IBT and an hour of OCCT should be able to call your computer 24/7 stable.

This, I can pass prime95 tests but if I fold overnight I would get unstable machine errors.

I have never ran a full 24 hour stress test. I find if it runs for 4 to 8 hours or so, it's stable and would continue running for 24 hours anyway.

Usually I will run additional stress tests in the days following my over-clock to ensure additional stability, but I would not agree that 24/48 hour tests are necessary with modern CPU's.

Thanks for answer guys !

In Prime95 which one of the tests should I run to test my overclock stability ?

there's 4 options
- smatt FFTs
- large FFTs
- Blend
- Custom

I'm currently testing 4.7ghz @ only a little above 1.3v ....

I think that means i got a good chip if i can achieve 4.7ghz at so little voltage.... So i guess i should push the overclock farther ?

****, after reboot i got a popup saying "You are currently using the second BIOS ROM, MSI strongly recommend you to update your BIOS via MSI Live update"

And now CoreTemp is showing that my frequency is back at 3.4ghz ....

what does that means ? Overclock failed and one of the BIOS isn't working anymore ? What do I need to do ?

That means your BIOS version is out of date.

Well i just updated my BIOS to the latest version, and each time i boot into Windows it tells me i am currently not using 1st BIOS ROM and that i need to update....

I used MSI Live Update to get the latest version like the popup is telling me to do

I never had this popup before... Why is it telling me that i'm not using the first bios rom ?
