Words can not describe how AWESOME both the fan controller and your DIY CNC machine is. You are quite the genius too. Just wondering do you have a certificate or degree in this stuff? Cant wait till next semester and i start doing these things at uni.

+ rep for you fine craftsman rolleyes.gif

If i remember correctly it's a hobby for him. Please do correct me though.

And I would love one of those. It would proberbly end up in the server I am build tho. redface.gif I would save me from having to connect a monitor/remote connection to see the useage.

I've been following this effort as well and found the project truly inspiring. Long ago I had a passion similar to the OP and over the years, the passion faded. This thread has sparked that interest in me again. Thank you.

Update, I managed to get all 3 displays running, wasn't as hard as I feared it would be. OK, admitted, I did hack the code a bit to do a test run with all 3 of them at the same time, some clean up work to be done there.

I did a video of them, again, not the best quality, phone cam doesn't want to focus properly and some reflections from myself and the ceiling light, but it does give an idea of what it looks like.

Best viewed full screen in HD.

I've set them to rotate the screens every ~15 seconds, the screen rotation is so that I can create more screens with data, e.g. 5-6 screens total. The quick 15 seconds rotation is just to show the functionality, I will want a slower interval permanently, but I've made it configurable anyway.

I'll try see if I can get a couple of better pictures of them in action.

Thanks, I appreciate it very much. Like BritishBob said, it's just a hobby thing, but I do sometimes wish I had the full theoretical background. I enjoy building various stuff. I'll post some more future projects here on OCN when they fit in. I'm considering a mini surround setup for my PC, that would be fun to build.

They would be perfect for a server, I very recently added support for performance counters, this is how I show network load, disks etc. I am planing to add one in my HTPC, probably slightly modified to show volume, playback status etc.

I've got a few ideas for extensions, like: RSS feeds, Twitter, facebook, clock, weather etc. but I better complete the current set of features first smile.gif

Thanks, yeah I know the feeling, don't let study or career suck all the creativity out of you, gotta have time to play. Although I know it can be hard a times. I've found it very motivating to post my project here on OCN with all the positive feedback, so I guess it does become kind of symbiotic.

I am very happy this is inspiring people, doesn't get better than that smile.gif

I just had to try this:

408

I wish I could get the colors right in the photos, any hints? (Maybe a better camera than my trusty old pocket sized point and shoot)

Thanks, yeah, I do like the OCN skin, it does look nice (completely stolen from the website logo, but I hope the original artist doesn't mind redface.gif). I'll do a thread on the HTPC when I get around to rebuilding it, it's pretty sad looking at the moment, just sitting there in the corner, in a cheap old case.

You dude are truly masterful.

I'm having a hard time figuring out how to flicker a LED with PICs... I'm too made to the analog school to work with this sorcery called microcontrollers >.>
