Custom Fan Controller Build - Working on 5" display (Warning: pic heavy) - Page 31

Well I got USB working on my PIC fairly easily today thanks to a guy who has written some very simple PIC source code for C18.

http://pe.ece.olin.edu/ece/projects.html

So much easier to work with than Microchip's utterly stupid and unusable code that is badly documented and obscured with tons of stuff for different dev boards.

The PC software is written for windows with libusb but compiles flawlessly with GCC and libusb on Ubuntu thumb.gif

Nice!

Thanks for sharing this thumb.gif it's a really good find. Good structured and well commented code.

I 100% agree with your opinion on the Microchip framework, it's a mess.

+rep for this.

Small update, I'm currently working on the landscape/portrait modes, I'll need a landscape mode for my HTPC build and at the same time I'm working on getting/displaying data from windows and XBMC. I would like to be able to display volume and playback status (time, title, play/pause etc.)

Might see if I can get playback info from Foobar2000 and Winamp as well. Any inputs are most welcome smile.gif

Nothing to show pics of yet, but hopefully soon.

I know that both Foobar2k and Winamp have APIs for getting various infos from them for other programs as I used those in LCDStudio for my G510, though I don't know anything specific about them, but they shouldn't be too hard to connect.

Making progress on the landscape mode. I decided to do flip as well then it doesn't matter which way it's mounted, it can be rotated/flipped to show correctly.

The landscape mode is not fully featured yet, but getting close:
