CPU bound but performance decreases with overclocking?

My head hurts from trying to figure out the "why" behind that...

I need to say that I have great hopes in that game and I wish it turns out to be a blast. But I won't be pre-purchasing it before I read some reviews from the beta week ends.

Everything ANet has promised has already been shown, and there are tons of reviews from the previous beta weekend (and the one before that), all positive. I don't count the only 2 negative reviews I saw because their arguments were basically "it needs to be more like WoW".

Game optimization is the absolute last stage of development, most companies do not optimize the game until the month before release. They address this problem because they know they will fix them before release and so people are aware the game has not been optimized yet. I believe Aion's optimization problems were never really address, they fixed them after a long time, but they never came out and said "yes there is a problem with the optimization" to my knowledge.

Also, Guild Wars 2 is not NCsoft. Anet is in charge of development, patches, expansions and they have a great track record from GW1 for fixing bugs. NCSoft only funds them, nothing more, Aion was actually funded and developed by NCSoft. Infact, GW2 actually got rid of the NCSoft master account to fully distance itself from NCsoft, minus funding and the NCsoft logo in the corner.
Not saying GW2 sucks, but to be honest almost all games receive positive review prior to launch. It really means not much.

What are you guys smoking?

There are no where near said overclocking will cause performance lost. It said CPU bound. So it means anything that are suppose to run on GPU will run on CPU (shaders, physic and etc.) They said no matter you upgrade your GPU or lower the graphic. Won't change the framerate much because it depends on your CPU at most of the rendering.

Higher your overclock the better. The question for me, how many threads they use in GW2. I'm sure my 3930k won't be a problem.

Seems like a very logical position to take....

Currently, adjusting the core clock speed of the GPU or CPU typically results in lower performance.
It is advised that you leave core clock speeds at factory defaults.

Whatever it is, it obviously allows an article to hold our attention long enough to read all the relevant information within it before making a comment about it.

Shot yourself in the foot with this one. :)

Thanks for quoting that. As you all know I only read the OP written words. I don't have full access to the guilwars2 website due at work firewall blocked and I see a big broken link image below it. Done some google search on the FAQ GW2 back it was all partially info.

I am basing on the OP comments.

Their game is not optimized yet. You can see from the list they have a lot a technical items they have to work through on their list.

The bug list is just like warnings on prescription drugs. If 1 user from the test group has an issue they list the problem.

I applaud ArenaNet in their detailed bug report. A lot of companies just tell you they are working on known issues but never specify. I guess there is a reason they don't people start acting like Doomsday Prepper's when they get specific news on bugs affecting a game.

But the OP points out that overclocking can hinder performance.

I know...we know was what said, however...where's that salt picture? We in the known gaming and CPU/Performance universe have never...EVER seen that to be the case with a finished product, or with any product period.

I think cows will fly before Devs are astute enough to read machine code / assembly per CPU /GPU to dissemble "IPC" and throttle the game for some unfathomable reason...JMHO

Now I'm not talking about frames per second throttling, just so someone doesnt misinterpret what I'm specifically talking about.

How would we all know what your current situation is or isn't? We're not psychic and that was your first post in this thread. :/
