I have used it some months now after trying AVG, Avast, Norman, Norton, and so on...
It's simple to use, no annoying ads or in my face at all.
False positives? Well then we that are on OCN should be smart enough to actually make MSE not take those then, I do it for all AV's. They always says something is, even though its not no matter what AV I have used.
Combined with Malwarebytes, Spybot S&D and PeerBlock, my computer is as safe as it gets, and I am not a stupid browser that clicks everything.
So do I really need anything better when MSE is fast, simple and clean?

AVG Free or Avast Free. Spybot S&D sucks.

Really now?
Avast is ok, but from my personal experience MSE is better.
Spybot sucks?! Show me some good proof, or Il just take it as whining from your side.

Badum-Tish!

On-Topic: Thanks for the heads up, noticed a Windows Update on MSE few days ago, didn't bother to check what it was.

Better is subjective. Having the highest rated protection is one dimension -- another is how intrusive or intuitive it is. MSE can't be topped in terms of how intuitive and unintrusive it is. I care about that a lot more than having the highest rated anti-virus. Like you said, it fluctuates frequently. You can have it your way of course, but I don't enjoy installing new AV software habitually. I like MSE because, after installing it, I forgot it's there, except for when I see threads like this and am reminded that it's there.

Everyone has different priorities. I simply don't value fool-proof protection as much as I value simplicity. I'm still protected, and that's good enough for me.
