oh right, thank you, thats very useful, do game developers see everyone going widescreen and bigger screens in the future then?? ...interesting..

im not too bothered now on SLI if its not that big a deal on 17" and 19" monitors then

Just hit a MAJOR draw back though... my 2 hard drives are IDE :O
i've just reloaded windows and i have about 100gb's worth of downloads argh!

what to do? Is there a good mobo with IDE or am i living in a dream world? Darn! sorry guys, should i go for new hard drives too? one's less than a year old

The S3 only has ONE IDE port, so if you have IDE CD drives, you either won't be able to run them, or the hard drive. You could run one CD drive and one hard drive, but it wouldn't work very well, as CD Drives communicate at a much slower rather than the hard drive, so you'd get pretty poor performance. That's what I've heard anyway.

i could just run windows on the proper IDE connection and then have my purely downlaods drive on the IDE to SATA converted. I could in a few years eventually change this... Is this a viable solution?

I only have one CD/RW/DVD player drive (IDE), so i could always flog it and change it for a SATA drive?

So run windows on IDE
Downloads drive on converted IDE
Buy new DVD drive

good?

To back track... I have a 7600GT and run Call of Duty, 2 at 1680x1050 DX9, 2x AA... good frame rates, and looks great... I am all for the 7600GT if you are on a budget...

Fantastic news!! Just what i wanted to hear! Got to be honest, i hadn't heard of the make of graphics card suggested (Palit) but i gather they're a reasonable make of Nvidia cards. FIngers crossed i'll go for this set up.
Is it worth going for a new case while im at it? The one i have is pretty non-descrip, nice and cheap. Pretty much this one: Case
